Over the past 16 years Bishop’s Waltham Garden Fair has raised over £160,000 for St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital . We support  orthoptist , Huda Abualeis, seen here , whose work involves screening and intervention to treat preventable blindness.

Our stall holder secretary keeps things fresh and interesting by choosing a selection of new stall holders as well as our old favourites. Each year, gardening expert Andy McIndoe views all the stalls with chairman Joan Ferrer and chooses the Best Presented Plant Stall and Best Presented Sundries Stall. The winners receive a certificate and a free stall at the Fair the following year. The competition adds a certain frisson and acknowledges all the hard work involved in running a successful business. The free stall is a practical and much appreciated prize.

Winner this year of Best Presented Plant Stall was Miles Japanese Maples and Best Presented Sundries went to Phillipa’s Vintage Garden Finds.
